Chengdu, December 2023 – The most wonderful time of the year, Christmas, is just around the corner. To embrace the blissful season, The Temple House has prepared a series of sustainable seasonal celebrations for our community to enjoy.
For the past years, The Temple House has commissioned a one-of-a-kind tree that incorporates whimsical elements created from upcycled materials. This year, in collaboration with EDITECTURE, the multidisciplinary design studio, we unveiled the 7-meter sustainable Christmas tree "The Tree That Lives On". It's crafted from used linen and biodegradable plastic, shining brightly with festive lights. This spectacular Christmas tree is surely one of the must-visit spots for taking fantastic holiday photos in Chengdu. After the festive season, the tree components will be recycled for other usage.
The Christmas tree-lighting ceremony, an annual tradition, was held at the lawn of The Temple House in the evening of 9 December 2023. Our House friends and the community were invited to celebrate the tree-lighting ceremony and took part in the festivities with Christmas carols, festive goodies and a photo session with Santa Claus.
Aside from the Christmas tree, our House hosted a charity Christmas bazaar to spread the spirit of giving and sharing on the same day, offering traditional Christmas mulled wine, cookies, and light food. The proceeds collected from this bazaar will be donated to "One Planet Foundation" in support of sustainable development projects in China.
Committed to giving back to the community this holiday season, our House provided an opportunity for non-profit organisations to introduce themselves to the local community through vibrant booths of their goods and services. These organizations included One Planet Foundation, BUY42, and Sichuan Haihui Poverty Alleviation Center.
The Temple House will continue to celebrate the festive season and supporting local community as the focus.
